Handguns

I had the opportunity to shoot a Glock 9mm and Springfield .45 pistols at a range yesterday. I have not shot a pistol in a very long time. I came away a bit in awe at the power in these little devices, and the absolute ease with which it is wielded.

Fun, yes, but in a truly terrifying way.I am pro-gun in general, but I fear many involved with guns have no where near enough respect for the easily tapped power in these devices.

They have been referred to as "equalizers", and that is entirely true. The Glock was particularly idiot proof: Load magazine, insert, rack one and fire until empty. Very easy to put a 6" group at 20 feet. Easier to use than an washing machine, motor vehicle, I would even say riding a bike is more complex.

I am absolutely ambivalent about how I feel about guns now. Neat, but terrifying. I don't know if I will go shooting again for a while.
