Had a great ride last night with Dave marred by the fact that my Dinotte light was improperly charged and therefore dead. I then proceeded to crash and break the mount on the L&M commuter in the first ten minutes.
We still had fun up Mint wash and back with a few stops to remount the L&M. Nights/dawns are the way to go this time of year. Hopefully the Monsoon will brew up soon for some relief.
I have found this interesting. The new line of super light, super efficient turbine engines for the next generation of airliners. I am amazed by the manufacturing capability that has to go into these extremely close tolerance, very reliable, very powerful devices.
Reading the news about them has convinced me that composites are truly the future of the high tech bicycle. The only concerns remain manufacturing ease/quality control, and cost. Otherwise composites can and will outperform (weight/strength/longevity, ride quality) any other material. If they can make a vane for a jet engine out of it, and have only three failures in 6 million hours, the capability is there; the question is can it be made affordable for the masses. In addition, I think the entire fuselage/wing assembly for the new 787 is all composites. Where goes aviation, soon follows bikes eventually.
Random thoughts.
