SS to Spruce

Had a nice, long ride up 305-297-Spruce Watchtower and back down today. Took the Rig with the new Fox fork.

The heat really took it out of me (I started at 12:45), but I think that was for the best. I was forced to walk large portions of Smith Ravine, and a bit of the road up to Spruce. The walking saved the ride because there was no way I would have made it to the top of Spruce if I had pulled to exhaustion/breakdown on every little climb. Lesson learned for longer rides. Walk.

It kills me to do so, but you simply have to save your strength as there are only so many of those all out efforts available.

The Rig is for lack of a better word: Perfect. Not a thing would I change. The Fox fork is invisible. Works fine. Utterly predictable. Perhaps a little stiffer than the Reba. Descending Smith is a great place to test this, and I had no issues. Glad I gave the Rig a second chance in a size down cuz I hated the large.

I'll add some photos tomorrow. The view from the top of Spruce is amazing.

I highly recommend clicking on the Pano above for the full effect. I love the outhouse:)

You can see all the lakes in the Prescott area if you look except Granite Basin.
