Three hours of perfect for rigid terrain, moderate climbs, sections of moderate technicality.
I arrived at dawn in shorts and short sleeves and proceeded to be very cold until the sun finally hit. Camel back hose froze. Interestingly, though I felt strong beyond belief. I have never felt so strong and fast for so long. Heat kills performance. This sort of explains how I felt.

Trail leftovers make me nervous.
Tested new bars:

Yep, dey big. Went from 710-760mm width. That is a big jump.
The jury is out. They felt awkward for the first hour and a half and then became invisible. I have a set of 735mm on another bike that feel dreamy. How on earth can we notice something (3%) different? I am pretty sure this is as wide as I will ever go.
Note my new cane tip bar ends. I can't remember if I used the 7/8 (22mm) or 3/4 (19mm). Bars are 22mm diameter, squeezing a cane tip on there protects the cars from scratches and it does not fall out and or cut through the end of the bars like most bike specific end caps. They are also cheap.
I put them on all the kids bikes because they are hell on the bar ends from the way they just fling the bikes on the ground.

I know what you mean about 3%. Recently switched the cranks on my cross bike from 175 to 170. Made a world of difference.
I run 170 on the geared bike, 175 on one SS, and 180 on another SS (but I gear it 3% harder:)) I can't tell much difference in crank world though.
