This afternoon

I wanted to see what Ethan had.  I hooked up the trail a bike with the 4yo and we started up from the racket club area.  Climbed 316, the started up the "White Rock" trail.

He did pretty good walking the initial rocky part and then cleaning everything to the "notch", a loose steep section that gives experienced bikers trouble.  We are pretty evenly matched with me pulling 80 lbs of 4yo and trail a bike, so there wasn't a lot of waiting on the climbs.

He could get over the initial crux about 3 in 10 tries, but could not pull the entire thing off due to lack of power.

We hit the white rock and turned back.  He requested more time to clean the section and this is the result.

I missed a few attempts, but conservatively, he hit this thing 35-40 times.  Never successfully.  I did not urge him on in the least and in fact tried to get him to stop.  He would not have it.  I have never seen him so persistent.  No idea where that came from.

It was getting dark and cold, so we bailed back to the car, but not before a little fun.

I won't try this with a kid on the trailer, but it is tempting:)

We rode 2.5 hours, probably climbed 1500 feet.  Result:  a hungry, but not particularly tired 10 yo.  What will it take to get this kid tired?
