Granite Basin

Granite Basin is one of my "go to" rides. Just fun, ripping trails. Not too technical although there are technical spots. Not much climbing, just fun riding on trails that can be linked up in various fun ways.

Lots of this:

This is in the middle of about a 15 minute slight downhill. You can haul around the twisty trail, jump the water bars (lots of them), and push the corners as hard as you dare before your tires give way on the low traction surface.

Some rocks to roll/launch to change up the terrain a bit.

Mint wash:

Junipers everywhere.

Tech geek interlude:

This was my first ride on the WB IMV 100 fork with TA.

The stiffness of this set up is beyond belief. While it is no where near as supple as a Reba, it simply blows the Reba away in its ability to hold a line when pushed. You could lean it way, way over, and trust the front end to be there for you. Same in rock gardens, off camber granite boulders, etc. After riding this, I realized I was compensating a lot for the front end flex of the Reba/Delgado Disc set up. No, not plush, and the damping is not as sophisticated as teh Reba, but it is staying because it complements the character of this uber stiff Al SS perfectly.

"You want plush? Don't come here wuss boy"
"You want to hold the line in the rough stuff, and haul the mail? Hop on?"

New design for brake line holders, credit to Tscheezy for the idea (yeah, I know the cable outer housing is cracked):

This sort of situation: the slow, switchback step down, is where you really notice and appreciate the fork's rigidity

This is what awaits you if you case it.

Happy Trails.
