What a relief.
I had been holding on the the Ventana frames because they are artwork, and I sort of had this thought that if I couldn't sell them for $600, I should keep them to use as trade in frames for Ventana's 30% off trade in program. In reality, who am I kidding. I will never pay $2200 retail for one of these frames new. I will get them used or not at all. I finally gave up and dropped the price way down and sold them off. In reality, I bought the Bruja for $350, rode it 6 months and sold it for $300, not bad for the usage. The Salty came to me for $750, had two sweet years of riding, and sold for $350. I'll take that deal any time. I also feel like it liberated me from my Ventana loyalties a bit. I would definitely like to try the new short CS Behemoth. Word is that Devin is making them with a 150mm rear spacing...maxle compatible!!
So what to do with the cashola that just replenished the biking fund?
Options:
1. Return to bank account
2. Always wanted to try a Rohloff Speedhub.
3. Save for Behemoth frame
4. Custom Curtlo Steel Hardtail (with matching rigid fork) combining the best traits of El Comandante and the Zion.
- Smooth, thin steel rear that is softer than El Comandante
- Slack front end
- Short CS
- Compatible with gears, Rohloff, or SS (EBB with Hanger, and Rohloff left drop out vs sliders)
- Fits largest 29er tires made
Any ideas welcome.
